31st July, Current Affairs:

• India’s Kamalpreet Kaur secured a place in women’s discus throw final. Kamalpreet, with a throw of 64m, was only the second athlete among 31 others to book a final berth via automatic qualification.
• Katie Ledecky of America became the first female swimmer to win six individual golds. The 24-year-old Ledecky made her Olympic debut in 2012 at the age of just 15 and is competing in her third career Olympic Games.
• PV Sindhu lost 18-21, 12-21 to Tai Tzu Ying in the women’s singles semi-finals and will face He Bing Jiao for the bronze medal.
• Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herath won the women’s 100m final with a time of 10.61 seconds.
• The Indian women’s hockey team qualified for the quarterfinal after Great Britain beat Ireland 2-0 in the last Pool A group match, securing the 4th spot for India.

30th July, Current Affairs:

• Lovlina Borgohain defeated Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen to help India secure its second medal at the Olympics. The 22-year-old boxer from Assam defeated her Chinese Taipei opponent by 4-1 to storm into the semifinals. Lovlina is third Indian boxer after Mary Kom and Vijender Singh to win boxing medal.
• PV Sindhu got the better of Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in straight games 21-13, 22-20 to enter the women’s singles semifinals in Tokyo Olympics.
• CBSE 12th result 2021 declared. The pass percentage recorded in Class 12 results was 99.37.

29th July, Current Affairs:

• The central government has announced a 27% reservation for OBC, and a 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates in the All India Quota for undergraduate and postgraduate medical/dental courses (MBBS / MD / MS / Diploma / BDS / MDS) from the current academic year 2021-22 onwards.
• International Tiger Day is observed day.
• The Rajya Sabha today passed the Factoring Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

28th July, Current Affairs:

• World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated today. It is observed to raise awareness about healthy environment as the premise of a stable and healthy society.
• Basavaraj Bommai took oath as Karnataka Chief Minister today, succeeding BS Yediyurappa who resigned on Monday.
• Gujarat cadre IPS officer Rakesh Asthana appointed as the Delhi Police Commissioner. Mr. Asthana had earlier served as the Special Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation.
• The Union Cabinet, on July 28, cleared the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment Bill).

• Harappan-era city Dholavira, located in the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, has been inscribed as a World Heritage Site (WHS) by the UNESCO heritage committee. With the addition of Rudreswara temple and Dholavira, India’s number of World Heritage sites has increased to 40.
• The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) legislature party has elected Basavaraj S Bommai as the new chief minister of Karnataka.
